At Banana Moon Moseley, the safety, health and wellbeing of the children in our care is always our top priority. As a day nursery, we know how important it is for parents and carers to feel confident that their little ones are being looked after by a team who are prepared for every situation.
We’re incredibly proud to share that all of our staff are now first aid trained, with the final members of our team completing their first aid training last week.
Why is first aid so important in a day nursery?
Young children are naturally curious, active and adventurous. As they explore the world around them, little bumps, trips, falls and accidents can sometimes happen, even in a carefully supervised and safe nursery environment.
Having a fully first aid-trained team means our staff have the knowledge and confidence to respond quickly and calmly should a child become unwell or have an accident.
In a nursery setting, first aid knowledge is particularly important because the children we care for are still developing their awareness of danger and learning how to manage risks. Our team needs to be prepared to deal with everything from minor bumps and grazes through to more serious situations where immediate action may be required.
Being first aid trained allows our staff to provide appropriate immediate care, recognise when further medical attention may be needed and, most importantly, remain calm and reassuring for the child.
Prepared for emergencies
We also understand the importance of being prepared for situations involving choking. Alongside our staff training, we have a LifeVac on site at Banana Moon Moseley as an additional emergency resource.
The LifeVac is designed to assist in an emergency choking situation when standard choking procedures have been unsuccessful. It is an additional precaution and does not replace appropriate first aid training or our established emergency procedures.
Having a LifeVac readily available, alongside a fully first aid-trained team, gives us another layer of preparedness and reassurance when caring for our children.
Keeping our children safe every day
For us, keeping children safe is about more than simply responding when an accident happens. It is about creating a safe, caring and well-prepared environment where children can play, explore, learn and develop with confidence.
We are extremely proud of our whole team for completing their first aid training and for continuing to develop their skills and knowledge.
We know how important it is for parents to trust the people caring for their children. Having 100% of our staff first aid trained is something we are proud of and an important part of our commitment to providing the highest standard of care at Banana Moon Moseley.
Because when it comes to little ones, being prepared matters.
